Juliet Ashton (Lily James) has known both triumph and tragedy. 10/08/2018В В· The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society is also a well-made film. It has a great performances, specially from Penelope Wilton as Amelia who has some of the movie's most powerful lines. Yes, this movie is also has some very strong lines that could stick in your head. But they are even more powerful when you're invested in the characters.

Film Review: The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society . This mouthful-titled historical drama comes from from Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows’ novel. It’s pleasingly played and quite moving, yet feels a bit safe and even schmaltzy, which is rather surprising given the darkness of the plot. 10/08/2018 · “The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Pie Society” is being released a mere three weeks after “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again ,” another summer crowd-pleaser tinged with melancholy. Both films are set largely on a gorgeous island, while pivoting between the present day and the vividly remembered past.

the guernsey literary and potato peel pie society film review

I’ve been lucky enough to see The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society twice before its release date, the second time being a screening in Vue Leicester Square hosted by yours truly, which was pretty insane. This story has gone from one I’d never heard of (and even if I had, I wouldn’t have picked it up with that mouthful of a title!), to one of my absolute favourite stories. Lily James stars in 'The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society,' an adaptation of the best-selling novel by Mary Ann Shaffer.
