12/31/2014 · Review. 3001: The Final Odyssey is the fourth and final book in Arthur C. Clarke’s Space Odyssey series. It concludes the story more than a thousand years after it began. You’d think it would be an adventure to see an amazing future. Well, there was … I have only the highest of praise for Arthur C. Clarke’s novels 2001: A Space Odyssey and 2010: Odyssey Two. But I advise readers to stop there. 2061 is a decent story but one with zero significance to the larger Odyssey storyline, and 3001 ends with a stunning anticlimax.

Fourth in Clarke's Odyssey series (2061: Odyssey Three, 1987, etc.). 7/19/2000 · I wasn't as disappointed by 3001 as many other people. Frank Poole is found in deep space and brought back to life (he was cryogenically frozen, so it isn't that hard to work out).He spends a lot of time finding out about the development of society in the Third Millenium, and then saves humanity.. I was a little sad to finish, but it was worth it. In 3001 we switch to the new-old POV of Frank Poole (yep, he’s still alive). Frank learns how to navigate the alien society of humans a millennium after his own, and this takes up the bulk of the book.

Frank learns how to navigate the alien society of humans a millennium after his own, and this takes up the bulk of the book. Now, in ''3001: The Final Odyssey,'' Mr. Clarke brings Poole back the way a television series resurrects a character killed off prematurely. Although his frozen body has been floating in space for a millennium, after a brief period of convalescence and education he isn't much the worse for wear.
